Beautiful boards start with beautiful wood. We stock maple, rich walnut and vibrant cherry. If you are looking for something more exotic, we offer Yellow Heartwood & Purple Heartwood as well as other custom materials.

Whenever possible, our wood is locally sourced!

Don't Forget The Board Butter

Sutton Hollow Board Butter helps protect and preserve hardwood cutting boards or other wood items such as wooden knife handles, wooden spoons and utensils. Our blend of Mineral oils and natural bees wax brings out the natural beauty of the wood.

The beeswax in our board butter acts as a protective layer to keep the mineral oil in while keeping food materials out of the woods pores resulting in a well-conditioned and good-looking wood cutting board or block.

Wood

Cherry:

Cherry is a hardwood with a fine, straight grain that ranges from reddish-brown to blond.

The heartwood is a light pink when freshly cut, cherry wood will darken with time and sunlight.

Maple:

Maple is a hardwood with fine textures and a light and even grain. The sapwood is white to cream and the heartwood has a reddish hue. Figured maple wood can have a distinctive pattern of grain with dark brown or black markings.

Walnut:

Walnut wood is hard, heavy, and resilient, capable of resisting warping and has rich dark colors and attractive grain patterns. The grain is irregular but typically straight with a medium texture. The endgrain is semi-porous with distinct growth rings. 

Custom:

We can mix and match these grains into one beautiful cutting board. 

This creates a lovely one of a kind cutting baord.

Face

Edge Grain:

Edge grain cutting boards are typically tougher than a face grain board. They may also be thicker than face grain giving the board more weight and body.

Face Grain:

Face grain boards may show knife marks faster than edge grain but, face grain boards typically have the most grain and often are the most striking of all cutting boards.
